Oceanside – This week, Assemblymember Laurie Davies (R-Laguna Niguel) hosted the Veteran Service Awards, an annual event recognizing the continued service and dedication of Veterans, Active Duty personnel, and community members who go above and beyond in support of their communities.
“Our veterans have already sacrificed so much in service to our nation,” said Davies. “Yet, time and again, they return home and find new ways to give back to their neighbors, their communities, and to one another. Their commitment to service is truly inspiring and deserves our deepest gratitude and recognition”
This year’s veteran service awards recognized five outstanding individuals and one prominent veteran’s resource organization in Oceanside.
- Distinguished Retired Service Member Award: Colonel (Ret.) John Todd
- Distinguished Retired Service Member Award: Gunnery Sergeant (Ret.) Andrew Williams
- Outstanding Local Community Advocate: Petty Officer Second Class (Ret.) Diego Padilla
- Distinguished Retired Service Member Award: Captain (Ret.) Ed Harrington
- Distinguished Retired Service Member Award: Master Gunnery Sergeant (Ret.) Mark Rivers
- Outstanding Service to the Veteran Community: Veteran’s Association of North County
“It’s an honor to celebrate these heroes who continue to serve long after their military careers,” Davies added. “Their leadership and compassion strengthen our communities and remind us what true service looks like every day.”
